Rahul Gandhi questions PM Modi’s silence on women issues

New Delhi | Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s silence on rising atrocities against women in the country.

Addressing the Mahila Adhikar Sammelan in Delhi’s Talkatora Stadium, Rahul Gandhi said that PM doesn’t speak on the incidents of rape. He said, “The PM doesn’t say anything on the incidents of rape. What happened against women in these four years is something which didn’t happen even in last 70 years.”

Attacking the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) and its political ideologue RSS for the lack of female representation in their organisation, the Congress president alleged “The ideology of BJP & RSS is that only the men will run this country & if it is anywhere that the women belong, it is at the back.”

Taking a dig at the Narendra Modi government for delaying the Women’s Reservation Bill in the parliament Rahul Gandhi said, “They talk a lot but Women’s Reservation Bill is long pending. Congress told them clearly that the entire party will stand by them the day they decide to pass it.But PM doesn’t say anything.Theys aid ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’. Hamein nahi samajh aya beti kisse bachani thi.” Gandhi further added that “The daughters need to be saved from BJP MLAs.”

The Congress President also assured that if his party comes in power at the center, the women representation bill will be passed with immediate affect. He said, “If they table the Women’s Reservation Bill, we will give them full support but if they don’t, then as soon as Congress party comes to the power we will pass the bill.”
