New Delhi: The Congress party on Thursday has requested its members to organize a statewide ‘dharnas’ at state capitals and district headquarters on 18th May 2018 to protest against the blatantly partisan and authoritarian act of the Hon’ble Governor of Karnataka.
In a letter issued by AICC general secretary Ashok Gehlot, the party has requested its member to reach out to all other democratic forces/ civil society from all walks of life to lend support to this cause.

BJP legislature party leader B S Yeddyurappa was today sworn in as the chief minister of Karnataka. BJP emerged as the single largest party in the Assembly, secured 104 seats in the 224-member House, just short of a majority. Governor Vajubhai Vala has given a time period of 15 days to prove its strength on the floor of the House.
Congress which emerged as the second largest party with 78 seats had extended its support to JDS who gained 37 seats to form the government with HD Kumaraswamy as the chief minister.
