BJP Leader To Recompense 11 Lakh Reward For Cutting Off Manjhi’s Tongue

Patna: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Gajendra Jha on Monday announced reward of Rs. 11 Lakhs to the one who will cut off tongue of former Bihar chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi amid his disparaging remarks against priests.

Jha has accused him for deliberately making repeated remarks against Sanatan dharma. “Manjhi should convert if he does not believe in Hindu Sanatan Dharma. Whosoever son of the Brahmin would chop off Manjhi’s tongue for making a disparaging remark against the community would be presented with a cash reward of ₹11 lakh,” said Jha.

Manjhi’s Hindustan Awami Morcha (HAM) is a constituent of Bihar’s ruling National Democratic Alliance, which includes the BJP.

HAM spokesman Danish Rizwan dared Jha and said no one has the courage to attack Manjhi. “The BJP leadership should handle its leaders, otherwise the results will be bad,” he said. “When Manjhi has already expressed his regret, then it is not right to rake up this issue.”

Trinamool Congress Swept The Civic Polls In Kolkata

Aleesha Sam

Kolkata: Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress won a landslide victory in the Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) election today, extending its winning streak following the April-May Bengal assembly polls and the recent by-polls. The party is set to serve a third consecutive term in the Civic body.

The Trinamool Congress has won 17 of the 144 wards in the Kolkata Municipal Corporation, which voted on Sunday. According to the most recent count, the state’s ruling party was leading through 116 seats, maintaining a large lead over its nearest rivals, the BJP (five) and the Left (one) (two). In only two wards Congress party took the lead.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee declared the civic poll results a victory for national politics, despite the fact that her opponents remained in the single digits.

“Other national parties also contested but they are all defeated. This is a mandate of the people, for the people, by the people,” she said.

“We won a landslide victory because I am a daughter of the soil. We work on the ground, not in the skies. We do what we say,” said Ms Banerjee, whose recent political moves, including meetings with opposition players, have fuelled speculation that she is ready to helm the 2024 offensive against the BJP.

The Trinamool, which returned to power earlier this year with a giant victory over its main challenger BJP, has made big gains in the civic body since 2015, when it won 114 seats. The Left is heading towards a big drop from its 15-seat tally in the previous polls. The Congress remains at number 4 and is expected to finish with fewer seats than before.

The Left and the Congress, after fighting the assembly election in an alliance, decided to contest the Kolkata civic polls separately.
