CBI files chargesheet against ex-Haryana CM Hooda, Motilal Vora and AJL

According to the CBI chargesheet, the AJL was allotted a plot of land in Panchkula in 1982, on which no construction took place till 1992.

New Delhi| The mountain of legal trouble in front of the Congress seems to be growing. The Central Bureau of Investigation on Saturday filed a chargesheet against former Haryana CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda, senior Congress leader Motilal Vora and Associated Journals Limited (AJL) in connection with are-allotment of institution plot in Panchkula.

The agency in its chargesheet claimed that the re-allotment process had many irregularities and it caused a loss of Rs 67 lakh to the exchequer. According to the CBI chargesheet, the AJL was allotted a plot of land in Panchkula in 1982, on which no construction took place till 1992. Subsequently, the HUDA took back the possession of the land. However, violating the existing norms, the land was again allotted to AJL in 2005 at the original rates.

Bhupinder Singh Hooda was then the Chief Minister of Haryana and chairman of Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA). Senior Congress leader Motilal Vora was serving as the then chairman of the AJL. CBI booked the company under the IPC sections related to criminal conspiracy and the provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act.

The AJL is reportedly controlled by senior Congress leaders, including members of the Gandhi family. The group runs the National Herald newspaper.

Commenting on this, accused senior Congress leader Motilal Vora termed it the government’s bad intentions. He said, “The Government is working with bad intentions. The Matter is sub-judice & truth will triumph at last. We’ll give a reply of charge-sheet. There are no irregularities in the matter.”
