Supreme Court refuse to intervene in appointment of KV Chowdary as CVC

New Delhi | The Supreme Court on Monday justified the appointment of KV Chowdary in the Central Vigilance Commision as Central Vigilance Commissioner (CVC).

The Apex court bench headed by Justice Arun Misra and Mohan M Shantanagoudar, refused to interfere in the appointment saying there was no ground to do so with the appointment of the CVC. The bench also dismissed the petition filed by NGO, Common Cause which challenged the appointment of the KV Chowdary as CVC and TM Bhasin as VC stating it was arbitrary and violates the principle of institutional integrity.

The Indian government in 2015 broke its tradition of appointing an Indian Administrative Service officer as the chief of the anti-corruption watchdog since it was formed in 1964 by appointing KV Chowdary as the CVC.
