Leading banker Uday Kotak has asked both the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and the government of India to print more money to help the country tide over the debilitating effects of the pandemic. Kotak, who is the CEO of Kotak Mahindra Bank, made these comments in an interview with NDTV. He suggested that the Centre spend up to 1 per cent of the country’s GDP for direct cash transfer to the poor as such a move will strengthen consumption at the bottom of the pyramid. In this episode of the Business Tit-Bits, our Business Editor Mr Akhilesh Bhargava shares his take on the matter.
