Mumbai | Business Tycoon Anil Ambani, who was drowning in debt until now, announced today that he has repaid the actual debt of ₹25,000 crore and ₹10,000 crore interest.
In a conference call with media, he said the Rs 35,000 crore debt repayment includes debt servicing by Reliance Capital, Reliance Power and Reliance Infra and their respective affiliates.
“The Reliance group has made aggregate debt servicing payments of over Rs 35,000 crore in the 14 months period from April 2018 till May 2019,” Ambani said.
He said despite challenging conditions and no financial support from financiers, the group has repaid the principal of Rs 24,800 crore and made interest payments of Rs 10,600 crore between April 1, 2018, and May 31, 2019.
Ambani has reassured that the group will meet all the future debt too.
He also blamed regulatory boards, institutions and courts for the delay in passing verdicts.
“To compound the matter, the regulatory bodies and courts have not passed any final adjudication order on claims aggregating to over Rs 30,000 crore that is due for more than five to 10 years to our various group companies especially Reliance Infrastructure, Reliance Power and their affiliates,” he said.
Ambani claimed that this payment has been funded almost entirely from the proceeds from asset monetisation
