New Delhi: The country recorded 5,921 new covid cases in the past 24 hours, taking the tally of cases to 4,29,57,477. The death toll climbed to 5,14,878 with 289 new fatalities reported in 24 hours, the data updated at 9 am stated.
The active cases have declined to 63,878, now comprising 0.15 per cent of the total infections, while the country’s Covid-19 recovery rate has further improved to 98.65% per cent, the health ministry said.
There is a reduction of 6.019 cases recorded in the active Covid-19 caseload in a span of 24 hours. The daily positivity rate was recorded at 0.63 per cent, while the weekly positivity rate was recorded at 0.84 per cent, according to the health ministry.
The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 4,23,78,721, while 11,651 recoveries were logged in the last 24 hours.
The testing capacity across the country continues to be expanded. The last 24 hours saw a total of 9,40,905tests being conducted. India has so far conducted over 77.19 crore (77,19,14,261) cumulative tests.
Meanwhile, more than 179.53 crore(1,79,53,10,650) vaccine doses have been provided to States/UTs so far through Govt. of India (free of cost channel) and through direct state procurement category. More than 15.62 crore (15,62,60,351) balance and unutilized Covid Vaccine doses are still available with the States/UTs to be administered.
Moreover, with the administration of more than 24.62 lakh doses (24,62,562) vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s Covid-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 178.55 crore (1,78,55,66,940) as per provisional reports till 7 am today.
