After three days searching the BBCโs offices in India, Indian tax authorities say they found evidence of unpaid taxes and undeclared income. Without naming the BBC, Indiaโs Finance Ministry says its tax inspectors have found โโcrucial evidenceโโ showing โโdiscrepancies and inconsistenciesโโ in the tax declarations of โโa prominent international media company.โโ Press freedom advocates around the world have decried this weekโs raids on the BBC โ in which journalists and accountants alike were questioned, and had their phones and laptops searched.
