Harmony Foundation Commends GOI For Conferring Padma Bhushan To Sudha Murthy

New Delhi:  Philanthropist, author, and chairperson of Infosys Foundation, Sudha Murthy, was felicitated with the Padma Bhushan award on Wednesday on the eve of 74th Republic Day. The Government of India conferred the Padma Bhushan award upon Sudha Murthy for her outstanding work as a distinguished educator, author and philanthropist.

The Harmony foundation also commended the Government of India for conferring Padma Bhushan to Sudha Murthy who was also a recipient of Mother Teresa Memorial Award.

Wishing her on her achievement and her extensive social work, Dr. Abraham Mathai Chairman of the Harmony foundation said, “We are humbled to recall Sudha Murthy’s personal presence to receive the prestigious Mother Teresa Memorial Award for Social Justice in 2006 in recognition of her exemplary work in healthcare amongst the underprivileged rural population of India. The truly inspiring work of her over the years has inspired not only India but the world. Global personalities like her are the epitome of empowerment and compassion. Her phenomenal service to humanity through social work and her astounding contribution to literature in Kannada and English are a legacy that has inspired us all. The grass-roots work of the Infosys Foundation under her guidance has exhibited the truest values of benevolence
and is an example for others to follow the path of kindness for all.”

Sudha Murthy being a recipient of the Mother Teresa Memorial Award for Social Justice 2006, Dr. Abraham Mathai further said,” She has created an unparalleled legacy by combining social
entrepreneurial abilities with an altruistic vision that benefits underprivileged and marginalised
groups. Ms. Murthy is truly an icon and a role model for all, especially the corporates in our country
to emulate and such recognition by the Government motivates selfless individuals and organisations
to excel in their endeavours towards the betterment and upliftment of the marginalised and
underprivileged sections of society.”

The Mother Teresa Awards, officially called the Mother Teresa Memorial Awards for Social Justice, are international and national awards presented annually to honour individuals and organizations that promote peace, equality and social justice, and aim to encourage the cause of justice and peaceful coexistence, while providing a impetus for society to imbibe these values.
