Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury Terms New Criminal Laws ‘Draconian’

On Tuesday, West Bengal Congress president Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury criticized the replacement of the Indian Penal Code and Code of Criminal Procedure as “draconian” laws. During a press conference in Kolkata, he decried the laws as inhuman and passed dictatorially, highlighting concerns such as unjust punishment for accidents and complications in matters like marriage, calling them anti-people. Chowdhury also criticized the expulsion of 141 MPs to facilitate the passage of these bills.
