Bangladesh: Violence Mars Schools and Booth On Election Eve

On the eve of Bangladesh’s general election, unidentified arsonists targeted at least five primary schools, including four polling booths in Gazipur. Authorities suspect individuals attempting to disrupt the upcoming election deliberately set fire to the schools overnight. The main opposition, Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), boycotting the vote, accuses Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s Awami League of orchestrating a sham election to secure a fourth consecutive term.
