BJP Sets 48-hour Deadline On Karsevakโ€™s Release

Protesting the arrest of Hindutva activist Shrikanth Pujari in Hubballi after 30 years, the BJP staged statewide demonstrations, setting a 48-hour ultimatum for the Congress government to release him. Led by Opposition Leader R. Ashok, the protest escalated, resulting in around 150 detentions. State General Secretary Sunil Kumar criticized the governmentโ€™s anti-Hindu and anti-Kannada stance, questioning the arrestโ€™s timing after three decades.

Congress leader Jairam Rameshโ€™s concerns over VVPATs were dismissed by the Election Commission of India (ECI), stating that no new assertions or doubts were raised. The ECI added that the rules governing paper slips were introduced by the Congress-led government in 2013. Ramesh had written to the ECI requesting an appointment for the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) to present their views on VVPAT slips.
