Maharashtra Government has decided to disburse Rs 1,757 crore to the farmers affected by damage to the crops due to heavy and unseasonal rains and floods in various parts of the state between January-October 2023 and so far Rs 300 crore have been so far distributed, announced the Chief Minister Eknath Shinde in his reply to a debate in the state assembly.
Shinde said the government has provided assistance of Rs 44,278 crore to the farmers through a slew of schemes impacted adversely in every natural calamity like drought, heavy and unseasonal rains, floods, and hailstorms, adding that the government has stood firmly with the farmers during such difficult times. ‘’Farmers are the backbone of our economy and for them, the government since July 2022 has been spending substantial funds for farmers. The government through the relief and Rehabilitation Department is spending Rs 14,891 crore, Rs 15,040 crore through the Agriculture Department, Rs 5,190 crore through the Cooperation Department, Rs 5,114 crore through the Marketing Department, Rs 3,800 crore through Food and Civil Supply Department and Rs 234 crore through animal husbandry department,’’ he said.
