A Russian group is set to become the first acknowledged tourists allowed into North Korea since the onset of global pandemic border closures in 2020. The trip, organized by a Vladivostok-based agency, was facilitated during talks between the governor of Russia’s Primorsky Krai and North Korea in December, as per regional authorities. North Korea, known for strict COVID-19 border controls, has not fully reopened to foreign visitors.
