On Tuesday, a small aircraft transporting workers to a remote mine crashed near Fort Smith in Canada’s Northwest Territories, claiming the lives of six individuals. The plane, en route to Rio Tinto’s Diavik diamond mine, lost contact with air traffic control after departing Fort Smith around 8:50 am local time. Rio Tinto’s Chief Executive, Jakob Stausholm, expressed profound sadness over the tragic incident.
