“I Expect PM To”… : Omar Abdullah

Former J&K CM and National Conference leader Omar Abdullah on Tuesday said that he expects Prime Minister Narendra Modi to live up to the promise of restoring the statehood of Jammu and Kashmir, reported Scroll.

“I expect the prime minister to be an honourable man and live up to the promise of restoring statehood,” Abdullah said. Omar Abdullah won from both the Budgam and Ganderbal constituencies.

On Tuesday, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) scripted history by winning a third consecutive term in Haryana, winning 48 seats in the assembly polls, while Congress bagged 37 seats. In Jammu Kashmir, the NC-Congress alliance won 49 seats. The BJP won 29 seats. Elections were held for 90 seats in both Haryana and J&K.

A day after Haryana and J&K election results, Akhilesh Yadav’s Samajwadi Party (SP) announced six candidates for the ensuing by-elections for 10 assembly seats in Uttar Pradesh. The sudden announcement from SP has surprised many, as the dates for by-elections in the state are yet to be announced.

Tej Pratap Yadav from Karhal, Naseem Solanki from the Sisamu, Mustafa Siddiqui from Phulpur (Prayagraj),  Ajit Prasad from Milkipur (Ayodhya), Shobhawai Verma from Katehari and Jyodi Bindfrom and Majhwan have been fielded by SP.

Reports suggest that the Congress is demanding 5 seats from its INDIA bloc ally. In the LS Elections, the SP contested 62 seats, Congress on 17 and 1 was given to TMC. Out of these, the SP won 37 and INC won 6 seats.
