Senior leaders of Nepal’s ruling Communist Party pointed out how Oli’s comments could hurt diplomatic relations with India.
The powerful standing committee meeting was convened at Nepal PM’s residence which was attended by former PM of Nepal Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda”, Madhav Kumar Nepal, Jhalanath Khanal, Vice Chairman Bamdev Gautam and spokesperson Narayankaji Shrestha. The leaders also pointed out that Oli’s remarks were diplomatically incorrect. The committee asked him to provide evidence for his allegation or quit the post.
Former PM of Nepal Prachanda said, “The Prime Minister’s remarks that India is conspiring to remove him were neither politically correct or diplomatically appropriate.” He also said that such statements damage Nepal’s relations with India.
KP Oli who is visibly leaning towards China had said that Indian govt was trying to overthrow his govt for amending Nepal’s map . Nepal recently rolled out a new map of the country which included Limpiyadhura, Kalapani and Lipulekh that are Indian territories. Nepal’s move was strongly opposed by New Delhi.
He had also said that activities are going on in embassies and hotels to overthrow him.
