In New Twist, Pakistan SC Scraps Speaker’s Decision On No Trust Vote, Asks To Restore Assemblies

Imran Khan

Lahore: On April 7, the Supreme Court of Pakistan reversed Imran Khan government’s decision to dissolve the National Assembly, terming the move as “unconstitutional”.

The five-member court ruled that the decision of Assembly’s deputy speaker of dismissing the no-confidence motion moved by the Opposition was ‘illegal.’

The apex court has asked the national assembly to reconvene on April 9, local media reports said, adding that the Opposition would table the no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan on the same day.
