NATO leaders mock US President Donald Trump, during reception party

The prominent leaders were hosted at Buckingham Palace by the Queen on Monday night and today are in Watford for behind-closed-doors talks

London: At Buckingham reception, NATO leaders Boris Johnson, Emmanuel Macron and Justin Trudeau have been caught on camera appearing to mock US President Donald Trump.

The leaders of Britain, Canada, France, and the Netherlands have been caught on camera at a Buckingham Palace mocking Donald Trump’s huge media appearances ahead of Wednesday’s NATO summit.

On Tuesday night a crowd was also included Princess Royal was filmed apparently gossiping about the US president’s unorthodox style, although without mentioning Mr. Trump.

On Monday morning Donald Trump was scheduled to turn up with Nato General Secretary Jens Stoltenberg for a five-minute photocall inside the US ambassador’s residence in London.

During the casual meeting, as the leaders, while sipping drinks, Mr. Johnson can be heard asking French President Emmanuel Macron: “Is that why you were late?”

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says: “He was late because he takes a 40-minute press conference off the top.” Later in the conversation, Trudeau adds: “You just watched his team’s jaws drop to the floor.”

On Tuesday it came after Mr. Trump branded Mr. Macron’s comments that NATO is “brain dead” as “very nasty” before both met at the US ambassador’s residence in London.

The leaders of the 29-member are meeting today at a luxury hotel and golf resort in outer London for a half-day session. They will be publishing a declaration underlining their commitment to NATO on its 70th birthday and to show that the alliance is adapting to modern threats and potential new adversaries like China. All leaders follows Trump’s frequent criticism of alliance members as falling short in doing their financial part through the first three years of his presidency.
