Kathmandu| After China’s occupation of some areas of Nepal, there has been an outrage against it. Three MPs of the opposition Nepali Congress have written to Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli demanding withdrawal of Chinese troops from their land. According to the lawmakers, China has occupied 64 hectares (about 158 acres) of land in several districts of Nepal. These include Humla, Sindhupalchowk, Gorkha and Rasuva districts. This letter has been conveyed to the Prime Minister through the Secretary of the House of Representatives.

The MPs in the letter said, “China has shifted the pillar number 35 on the China-Nepal border. With this, Rui Guwan village of Gorkha district came under its control. Now 72 families of this village are said to be citizens of the Tibet Autonomous Region (TAR) of China. China is also claiming 18 houses in Dharchula district.”

China’s occupation of Nepal’s land was revealed by the local newspaper ‘Annapurna Post’ on Wednesday. According to the newspaper, China has been ruling in Rui Guwan village for 60 years. The Nepalese government never opposed it. The official map of the Government of Nepal also shows this village within its border. The revenue office in Gorkha district also has documents of tax collection from the people of Rui Guwan village. However, the Nepalese government is not very active here.
