Time Ticking For TikTok? Trump Signs Order To Ban The Chinese App

US tech company Microsoft is in talks to buy American business of popular short video platform TikTok.

 

Washington| After India, the US has also banned the Chinese app TikTok. US President Donald Trump signed an executive order putting a ban on the popular Chinese app’s parent company ByteDance on Thursday. Accordingly, the ban will be implemented after 45 days.

US tech company Microsoft is in talks to buy American business of Chinese app. If TikTok wants to make this deal, now it will have one and a half months. However, it has not been clearly stated by Microsoft that what will the deal do for the safety of the user’s data?

Trump said- China gets a chance to spy on TikTok

Trump has said that Chinese apps remain a threat to national security, foreign policy, and the economy. At this time, an order has been issued specifically for action on TikTok.

The American president alleges that through TikTok, the Communist Party of China gets an opportunity to look into the lives of the American people. This allows it to track the location of American employees and contractors, spy on business and even blackmail based on personal information.

India has so far banned 106 Chinese apps
Prior to the US. In late June, India banned 59 Chinese apps. After that, in the second phase, 47 more apps from China were banned.
