Ship trapped due to loss of control

The huge 400-meter-long and 59-meter-wide container ship got stuck in the canal on Tuesday morning when it lost control while crossing it north of Suez Port. Large tug boats (powerful boats pushing ships) have been deployed to remove it. Still, it is feared that it may take several days to get this container ship out of here.

Severe traffic jam in the sea

As the route has been blocked by this ship, a large number of ships are jammed on the sides of the Red Sea and the Mediterranean Sea. Every day thousands of small and big ships travel from Europe to Asia and Asia to Europe via this canal. If this route remains closed for a long time, then the ships will have to travel all the way to Europe, circling the continent of Africa.

The ship was going from China to Netherlands

Panama’s container ship Ever Given was on its way to Port Rotterdam, the Netherlands after loading cargo from China. The ship took the Suez Canal route to reach Europe from the Indian Ocean. However, it got stuck north of Suez Port at about 07:40 local time in the morning of Tuesday. The ship was built in 2018, which is operated by the Taiwanese transport company Evergreen Marine.

Ship stuck due to strong gust of wind

According to the report, the crew of Ever Given reported that their ship turned around due to a strong tornado of wind while crossing the Suez Canal. Later, when they tried to straighten it, it wandered across the width of the canal and stopped the entire traffic. Another cargo ship The Mersuck Denver is trapped behind this ship.
