Watch: PM Modi replies to “Howdy Modi” in diverse regional languages of India

Addressing the event in Houston, PM Modi replied to ‘Howdy Modi’ with ‘all is well’ in multiple Indian languages like Marathi, Bengali, and Telegu.

New Delhi| On Sunday, in a show of strength, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and American President Donald Trump shared a stage at the “Howdy Modi” event organized in Houston. The event hosted by the Indian community in the US saw presence of almost 50,000 people. Not only PM Modi praised Trump during the event but also campaigned for him saying “Abki Baar, Trump Sarkar”.

The event grabbed headlines for many reasons. One of them was how Modi replied to “Howdy Modi” in different Indian languages. “Howdy” which means “How are you”, saw a response from the PM Modi that won every one. PM Modi replied, ” All is fine in India” in different Indian regional languages including Gujarati, Bengali and Telugu.

The video of it was later shared by the Prime Minister on his Twitter handle as well.

According to the American, Community Survey data for 2016 which was published in 2017 said that Hindi is the most widely spoken Indian language in the US. This is followed by Gujrati. Telugu, on the other hand, is the third most spoken Indian language in the US. Over the years, the influence of the Indian communities in the US has grown multiple extents.

The Howdy Modi event witnessed multiple dance, music and yoga performances. The event saw participation on a large scale by the non-resident Indians as well as foreigners.
