BJP leader and former MP Poonam Mahajan on Friday alleged that there was a larger conspiracy behind the 2006 murder of her father, former Union Minister and BJP stalwart Pramod Mahajan.
“The murder of Pramod Mahajan was a big conspiracy, which was covered up by citing trivial reasons, which is not true. Eventually, the truth will come out today or tomorrow.” Poonam Mahajan said during an interview with media channels.
The two-term BJP MP said, “At the outset, it seems the person (Pramod Mahajan’s brother Pravin) pulled the trigger… Both the gun and bullet belonged to the person whom he was targeting. Even the clothes he was wearing were likely provided by my father. But behind this perceived notion, there may have been masterminds.”
“There was a larger conspiracy behind the killing. The truth will someday emerge. After the murder, several theories were floated, such as enmity between brothers, which was not true. It was not an outcome of money, jealousy or family matters. These were trivial issues projected to cover up the truth.” Poonam said she would write to the Home Minister for a thorough probe.
Poonam’s revelation comes amid ongoing Maharashtra Assembly polls. Despite being a sitting MP, Poonam was denied a ticket from Mumbai North Central for this year’s Lok Sabha polls and was also not given a ticket for the assembly polls.
Advocate Ujjwal Nikam was given the ticket from the Mumbai North Central seat, which he eventually lost to Mumbai Congress chief Varsha Gaikwad.
