New Delhi | Union Home Ministry today responding to the Congress party letter over the breach in the security of Rahul Gandhi during his interaction with the media in Amethi said that the SPG informed the MHA that the “green light” shown in clipping was found to be that of a mobile phone used by AICC photographer.
Speaking on the media reports of Congress writing a letter to the Union Home Ministry related to the security concern of Rahul Gandhi, Ministry of Home Affairs replied saying,” We’ve not received any letter regarding an alleged breach in security of Congress Pres Rahul Gandhi. As soon as MHA’s attention was drawn to reports of an incident of “green light” being pointed at him yesterday in Amethi, the Director (SPG) was asked to verify factual position.”
“Director SPG informed MHA that the “green light” shown in clipping was found to be that of a mobile phone used by AICC photographer, who was video graphing the impromptu press interaction of Rahul Gandhi near the collectorate in Amethi,” the ministry added.
Earlier the Congress party wrote a letter to the Union Home Ministry regarding the security breach during Gandhi’s address to the media after filing his nomination in Amethi.
In a letter to the Home Ministry, the Congress party wrote, A laser was pointed at Rahul Gandhi’s head on at least 7 separate occasions in a short period including twice at his temple on the right side of the head during his address to the media after filing his nomination in Amethi.
Terming this as a cause of serious alarm towards a breach in Gandhi’s security, the Congress party wrote that various person including security personnel leads to a prima facia conclusion that the laser could emanate from a potential weapon such as a sniper gun.
