New Delhi:The AAPโs Himachal Pradesh unit was dissolved on Monday, after the stateโs main leaders abandoned the party in favor of the BJP. The AAP issued a statement confirming the demise of the state unit.
Satyendra Jain, the AAPโs election in-charge for Himachal Pradesh and Delhiโs Health Minister, announced the state unitโs dissolution.
โHimachal Pradeshโs Aam Aadmi Party state working committee has been dissolved. The new state working committee will be reorganised again โ tweeted Jain.
The AAP also released a press release announcing the dissolution of the state unit.
The Units of the assemblies will continue to function as it is . Soon a string organisation will be formed, it said.
Three days prior to BJP National President JP Naddaโs roadshow in Shimla, AAP state president Anoop Kesari and the partyโs organization secretary joined the saffron party.
Mamta Thakur, the leader of the AAPโs womenโs wing, joined the BJPโs central office in New Delhi, along with five other office bearers. Sonia Bindal, vice president of the AAPโs womenโs wing, and Sangeeta (Single name), vice president of the AAPโs industrial wing D.K Sharma, and social media vice president Ashish Kumar are among the others.
More AAP leaders would join the BJP in the coming days, according to Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur, who is thought to be a significant person behind the defection.
The AAP began their campaign for the state assembly elections in Mandi, the hometown of current chief minister Jai Ram Thakur.
On April 6, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his Punjab counterpart Bhagwant Mann held a roadshow in Thakur.
This was the partyโs first major event in the run-up to the assembly elections, which are set to take place before the end of the year and will reflect the public sentiment in the hill state.
The AAP has also stated that it will run in the Shimla municipal election, which is anticipated to be held soon.
