Chandigarh: Aam Aadmi Party Chief Arvind Kejriwal on January 18 announced that Bhagwant Mann will be the Chief Ministerial Candidate of the party for Punjab. This announcement is made a month ahead of Punjab Assembly Polls.
He has been selected on the basis of tele-voting held by the Aam Aadmi Party, termed as, “Janta Chunegi Apna CM.”
Bhagwant Mann received more than 93 per cent of the votes received through phone and WhatsApp, AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal told reporters.
Around 3 per cent votes were in the name of Navjot Singh Sidhu, the Punjab Congress chief. There were a few voters in support of Arvind Kejriwal. Those in favour of Kejriwal were declared invalid.
“It is clear that AAP will win the Punjab election. In a way, the person chosen as the Chief Ministerial candidate will be the next Chief Minister of Punjab,” Kejriwal said.
