BJP MLA Alleges BMC Over ₹300cr Corruption

Mumbai: Over Byculla Zoo now BJP MLA from Mulund Mihir Kotecha writes to Additional BMC Commissioner and questions the contract awarding process for work of flyover near Kora Kendra in Borivali West area of suburban Mumbai.

According to Kotecha’s letter, he raised question when Standing committee on 25th Of August last year had pass the proposal regarding sanctioning additional amount of ₹300cr for construction flyover which was having budget of ₹129cr Why this was happened ? Didnt BMC conduct any feasibility study before passing this proposal?

Kotecha also highlighted the point that according to circular issue by BMC commissioner which says that 15% increase in contract after it gets passed is possible but here it’s is around 400% additional amount has been sanctioned by BMC. Is it legal to sanction such amount ? According to Kotecha the contract of additional work was sanctioned to same contractor when he couldn’t complete the original work within span 3 years. Why no other contractor was looked for additional work?

In the pinpoint letter Kotecha also raised questions over the feasibility of this project , as this project was started keeping the local traffic congestion in mind. Kotecha raised doubt about feasibility report of this project. He asked BMC additional commissioner whether there is any report submitted to BMC before passing this project or not ? Hence he has alleged that ₹300cr Corruption has happened in BMC regarding this project hence there BMC should ask for all documents and thoroughly investigate this corruption.

Earlier this week BJP MLA Mihir Kitecha had raised question over ₹106 contract given in regards to Byculla zoo by BMC. Kotecha had alleged that BMC kept in mind specific companies and awarded these contracts to them as he smelled some nexus between BMC and the private company who have got the contract.
