Delhi Police Arrest One Of The Main Accused Of Jahangirpuri Violence From WB

New Delhi: Delhi Police from West Bengal arrested main accused of Jahangirpuri violence. The accused has been identified as Farid alias Neetu. He was picked up from his relative’s place, police said.

Officers of Crime Branch and Special Cell were looking for him. “We found that Farid was involved in the riots and is one of the conspirators. We recovered CCTV footage and other videos from social media and locals. The man is seen firing at the other community. After riots, he fled from his home in Jahangirpuri and has been hiding in Tamluk,” police officers from headquarters stated.

After the accused fled from the spot he has been changing his locations. He has six cases registered against him, including that of robbery, snatching, burglary and under the Arms Act. In Jahangirpuri area, he has a history-sheeter since 2010.

On April 16, clashes broke out between people of two communities during the celebrations of Hanuman Jayanti. Eight police officials and a civilian was injured in the violence that erupted at Jahangirpuri. According to the police, there was stone pelting and arson during the clashes and some vehicles were also torched. Days after the violence, Delhi Police Commissioner Rakesh Asthana had written to the Enforcement Directorate to investigate money laundering charges against the prime accused in the case. The police have slapped the stringent National Security Act against five of the accused in the case.

Punjab Chief Minister and AAP leader Bhagwant Mann was on Saturday diagnosed with bacterial infection leptospirosis, with doctors saying he is being given antibiotics and his vitals are “completely stable“. The  AAP leader was hospitalized at the Fortis Hospital, Mohali, on Wednesday for a routine check-up.

The health bulletin said: “At present, all vitals of the Chief Minister are completely stable. As suspected at the time of admission for tropical fever, his blood tests for leptospirosis came back positive.”

It further read: “The chief minister has already been put on appropriate antibiotics. All clinical features and pathological tests have shown satisfactory improvement.”

What is Leptospirosis? 

According to WHO, leptospirosis is a bacterial disease affecting humans and animals. Humans become infected through direct contact with the urine of infected animals or with a urine-contaminated environment. The bacteria enter the body through cuts or abrasions on the skin or the mucous membranes of the mouth, nose and eyes.
