IMD Issues Heat Wave Alert For Thane, Mumbai And Raigad For Two Days

Mumbai: The Indian Meterological Department has issued (IMD) yellow alert with a warning of a heatwave in north Konkan,Thane, Mumbai and Raigad for two days.

On Sunday, Mumbai recorded a temperature of 38.6 degrees Celsius and the weather office has sounded a temperature alert in the city for the next few days and has warned that the temperature may rise up to 39 degrees Celsius.

Warm conditions prevailed in the financial capital for the second day in a row on Sunday. The automatic weather station in Santacruz recorded a maximum temperature of 38.6 degrees Celsius, six degrees above normal. Colaba recorded 37.6 degrees Celsius, 6.1 degrees above the normal mark. IMD officials told Times Of India that such conditions are likely to continue for the next three to four days and the city temperature may remain in the same range.

The minimum or the night temperature is also forecast to rise to 24 degrees for the next two days. On Sunday, the minimum temperature was a degree above normal at 22.5 degrees. The mean minimum temperature for March is 21.4 degrees.
