Srinagar: Manoj Sinha, the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir, has ordered that all Hindu government personnel in the Kashmir valley be transferred to the district headquarters.
This important decision follows the numerous assassinations of government personnel from the minority Hindu community.
On Wednesday in Srinagar, Sinha presided over a high-level conference attended by top police and civil administration personnel.
Government personnel who are Hindu minorities and work in remote locations would be transferred to district headquarters in the Kashmir valley.
The administration has also resolved to provide enough protection and safe housing for Hindu government personnel in J&K.
Meanwhile, Sinha stated that nodal officers in the LG secretariat would deal with the employees’ other issues.
Hindu government employees who do not want to move to the district headquarters in the Kashmir valley can request a transfer to the Jammu region, according to reports.
Terrorists shot and killed a Hindu woman named Rajni Bala in the Gopalpora area of Kulgam district in south Kashmir the day before. Rahul Bhat, a revenue department official, was slain by militants in Budgam district on May 12. Last week, Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists opened fire on TV actress Amreen Bhat in Budgam’s Chadoora neighborhood, killing her.
