Pune: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated the Pune Metro Rail Project in Pune, Maharashtra. After inaugurating, PM Modi traveled in the metro rail and inspected the metro. PM Modi traveled in the metro from Garware College Metro Station to Anand Nagar Metro Station in Pune Metro.
PM Modi inaugurated the 12km stretch of the Pune Metro Rail project in the city. The project is being built at a cost of more than Rs 11,400 crore. Modi also unveiled the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj at the premises of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC).
Addressing the people at the Golden Jubilee programme of the Symbiosis University in Pune, PM Modi spoke about stranded Indians at Ukraine and said that it is the increasing influence of India, due to which we have been able to bring home thousands of Indians trapped in Ukraine, while many big countries are facing difficulties in evacuating their stranded nationals from Ukraine.
Soon after the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the government of India had launched Operation Ganga to evacuate Indian students stuck there. PM Modi said that more than 1,000 students have been evacuated from Ukraine till date.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Symbiosis Arogya Dham at Lavle campus. Founder SB Mujumdar Subhash Desai and BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis were present at the event.
At Pune Municipal Corporation premises today, PM Modi unveiled the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. An official said that this statue is made of 1,850 kg ‘gunmetal’ and its length is about 9.5 feet.
Pune Mayor Murlidhar Mohol greeted PM Modi at the municipal headquarters here and presented him with a specially crafted traditional Maharashtra cap ie ‘feta’. Modi also paid floral tributes to the statue of social reformer Mahatma Jyotiba Phule at the civic body headquarters.
Earlier, Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari, state cabinet minister and senior Shiv Sena leader Subhash Desai, Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Devendra Fadnavis and BJP state unit president Chandrakant Patil met Narendra Modi at the Lohegaon International Airport, and welcomed him.
