Neo-Hindutvadis In BJP Creating A Pre-Partition Like Atmosphere In India: Sena

Mumbai: The Shiv Sena attacked the BJP on Tuesday, stating that its Hindutva is self-serving and empty, and that the BJPโ€™s โ€œneo-Hindutvavadisโ€ are causing the country to revert to pre-partition conditions.

According to an editorial in the Sena mouthpiece โ€˜Saamana,โ€™ it claimed that the BJP has nothing to do with Hindutva and is only interested in causing a schism between Hindus and Muslims.

The Marathi newspaper, in a jab at the BJP, remarked that if playing the โ€˜Hanuman Chalisaโ€™ (Hindu devotional hymn) causes the Chinese forces in the Galwan Valley to retreat, then that is OK.

Will the issue of resolving Kashmiri Pandit difficulties, including as unemployment, be remedied by playing โ€˜Hanuman Chalisaโ€™ outside mosques, as the party suggested?

โ€œIt is clear that the BJPโ€™s Hindutva is selfish and hollow. The doubt, that to win polls these people have a role to orchestrate riots and create rift, is getting stronger,โ€ it said.

โ€œThe BJPโ€™s neo-Hindutvavadis are โ€œcreating a pre-partition climate,โ€ it alleged, referring to the hijab debate and right-wing organisationsโ€™ demand that Muslims not be allowed to conduct commerce outside temples.

Raj Thackeray, the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) president, has ordered that mosque loudspeakers be turned off, stating that if this is not done, he will resort to violence โ€œOutside mosques, speakers will be playing the โ€˜Hanuman Chalisaโ€™ at a higher volume.

The Sena editorial, referring to recent skirmishes between student organizations at Delhiโ€™s Jawaharlal Nehru University over the alleged serving of non-vegetarian food in the mess on Ram Navami on Sunday, said the BJP is attempting to deflect attention away from issues such as inflation and unemployment.

โ€œReligion is an opium and it is not evident in India everyday. The violence in the JNU took place due to non-vegetarian food (being served), but the BJP is maligning Lord Ramโ€™s name,โ€ it claimed.
