New Punjab Cabinet Approves 25,000 Government Jobs In First Meeting

Chandigarh: In its first meeting, Punjab’s new cabinet led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann approved 25,000 government jobs in state departments, boards, and corporations.

10,000 jobs will be created in the Police Force, and 15,000 jobs will be created in other departments. The notification of vacancies will be out in a month.

“The Punjab cabinet has approved notification of 25,000 job vacancies within one month. As we promised before the election, job opportunities for Punjab’s youth will be the topmost priority of the AAP government,” Bhagwant Mann said in a tweet.

Ten minister’s of Punjab’s new AAP government took oath today. They have taken charge in the Punjab Civil Secretariat.

The new ministers are: Harpal Singh Cheema, two-time MLA from Dirba; Baljit Kaur, MLA from Malout and daughter of former AAP MP Sadhu Singh; Harbhajan Singh ETO, MLA from Jandiala; Vijay Singla, MLA from Mansa; Lal Chand Kataruchak, MLA from Bhoa; Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer, two-time MLA from Barnala and chief of AAP youth wing; Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal, MLA from Ajnala; Laljit Singh Bhullar, MLA from Patti; Brahm Shankar Jimpa, MLA from Hoshiarpur, and Harjot Singh Bains, the youngest minister in the new government and MLA from Anandpur Sahib.

Including the new CM Bhagwant Mann, there are a total of 18 berths in the cabinet.

On March 16 Bhagwant Mann took oath as Punjab Chief Minister, at a mega event in Punjab’s Khatkar Kalan. The next day, all newly-elected MLAs took oath as members of the assembly. The legislators were administered the oath of office and secrecy by Protem Speaker Inderbir Singh Nijjar.

“Sworn-in as MLA in Punjab Vidhan Sabha. The Aam Aadmi Party government will bring a new change in Punjab for which the people have chosen us. Our government will be known as the most honest government of Punjab,” Mr. Mann had tweeted.

Meanwhile, On Thursday Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said he will announce an anti-corruption helpline number. For announcing this helpline, he has chosen March 23, Martyrdom Day. After Mann has taken up the charge of Punjab, this is the first major announcement made by him.
