Nitesh Rane Seeks Information About Girgaum Viewing Deck Warns Breach Of Privilege Motion For Hiding Information

Mumbai: Questioning the breach of Coastal Regulatory Zone (CRZ) norms at Girgaum Chowpatty by BMC, BJP MLA Nitesh Rane wrote a letter to the Commissioner seeking detailed information regarding the same. He has also warned the official to share the information else he would move a breach of privilege motion in the Assembly.

In the letter, Nitesh said โ€œA viewing gallery of about 475 sq. mt. is being constructed at Girgaum Chowpatty towards the north side, near B. R. Tambe chowk without taking any CRZ permission. It is near a pipeline meant to release rainwater during monsoon. The BMC should take action under the CRZ act. I had earlier written to you about the illegal construction on May 1 and May 7. However, there was no action against it.โ€

In the third reminder letter to the Commissioner, Rane said that the BMC should give him the information required immediately. โ€œI would move a breach of privilege motion in the coming Assembly session of the legislature if the information is not provided to me in time,โ€ he said.

The idea of building a viewing deck at Girgaum was conceived by the BMC in 2021 and the construction started in October of the same year. About 500 people could enjoy the facility of viewing the seafront. The BMC has already installed a sewing deck at Dadar Chowpatty near Chaityabhoomi. Padalkar demands Ahmednagar to name โ€œAhilyanagarโ€.

Days After Moose Walaโ€™s Murder, Punjab Govt To Restore Security Covers Of 424 VVIPs

Tejas Joshi

Five days after singer Sidhu Moose Wala was shot dead, the Punjab government today said it is going to restore Security cover for over 420 VVIPs from June 7. Moose wala was killed a day after the state government ordered withdrawal of security cover to several VVIPs, including the popular Punjabi singer.

This information was provided to the Punjab and Haryana High Court by the Aam Aadmi Party government during a hearing on a petition filed by former minister OP Soni, who is among the 424 whose security cover was curtailed.

Since the passing of Moose Wala, the Punjab government led by Bhagwant Mann has come under fierce criticism over curtailing security for VVIPs.

The Punjab government, when questioned by the High Court why security cover was curtailed, said it needed the security personnel for Operation Bluestarโ€™s anniversary on June 6. The operation referes to the military offensive in June 1984 ordered by then PM Indira Gandhi to eliminate terrorists who had dug in at the Golden Temple.

BJP leader Manjinder Singh Sirsa, taking a potshot at Kejriwal-led party, wrote on Twitter: โ€œKejriwal-Mann duo bite the dust, again. They refuted back in high court on their claim of reducing VIP culture in Punjab by saying that it was a temporary withdrawal. AAP Punjabโ€™s cheap stunt cost Punjabis a precious life. Punjabโ€™s youth would never forgive them for their hypocrisy.โ€
