Padalkar Approaches Anil Parab To Speak With ST Workers Regarding Strikes

Mumbai: Backing State Transport (ST) employees who are on strike for the past two months, BJP MLC Gopichand Padalkar congratulated them on Tuesday for remaining firm on the demands. He appealed State Transport Minister Anil Parab to reach out to the workers to resolve the issue instead of finding solution elsewhere.

โ€œI congratulate all the ST workers for the unity they have shown to fight. They did not join any union but remained firm on their demands. Only after there was a loss of revenue due to the strike, senior leader like Sharad Pawar wants to talk to you,โ€ Padalkar said.

Advising Shiv Sena minister Anil Parab to discuss the issue with workers, Padalkar said โ€œwhy donโ€™t you go to Azad maidan where Marathi workers are protesting and discuss the issue with them? Instead you are finding solutions elsewhere. You should personally assure the workers that their suspension would be withdrawn so that they would agree to talk.โ€

Reminding that Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray had said earlier that his government would meet protesters and give patient hearing to them, the BJP leader said to keep the word. โ€œAt least honour the CMโ€™s promise and take a step forward to speak with the workers. You have to resolve the issue by taking workers in confidence,โ€ Padalkar added.

Law Minister Criticizes Tweet On Saina Nehwal, Says Reveals Personโ€™s Mentality

Aleesha Sam

New Delhi: Actor Siddharthโ€™s tweet on Badminton star Siana Nehwalโ€™s concern over the PM security breach recently in Punjab has surfaced controversy over outright sexist overtones.

Ms Nehwal had raised concerns over PM Modiโ€™s convoyโ€™s being stopped for some 20 minutes on a flyover in Punjabโ€™s Bathinda as the road was blocked by protesting farmers last week.

Amid massive outrage over actor Siddharthโ€™s โ€˜sexistโ€™ tweet targeting ace shuttler Saina Nehwal, Union law minister Kiren Rijiu on Tuesday expressed solidarity with his fellow BJP leader, saying that a โ€˜cheap commentโ€™ on her exposes the personโ€™s โ€˜ignoble mentality.โ€™

Taking to twitter, Rijiju tweeted โ€œIndia is proud of @NSaina for her outstanding contributions in making India a sporting powerhouse. She is a steadfast patriot besides being an Olympic medalist. Making a cheap comment on such an icon personality depicts a personโ€™s ignoble mentality,

Siddharth, who has worked in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi films, finds himself in the eye of the storm over his response to Nehwalโ€™s condemnation of the breach in Prime Minister Narendra Modiโ€™s security in Punjab last week. Responding to her tweet, he posted, โ€œSubtle cock champion of the worldโ€ฆThank God we have protectors of India.โ€

After the tweet, on Monday, received widespread attention and condemnation on social media, he issued a clarification, tweeting, โ€œCOCK and BULL. Thatโ€™s the reference. Reading otherwise is unfair and leading! Nothing disrespectful was intended, said or insinuated. Period.โ€
