Mumbai: Backing State Transport (ST) employees who are on strike for the past two months, BJP MLC Gopichand Padalkar congratulated them on Tuesday for remaining firm on the demands. He appealed State Transport Minister Anil Parab to reach out to the workers to resolve the issue instead of finding solution elsewhere.
“I congratulate all the ST workers for the unity they have shown to fight. They did not join any union but remained firm on their demands. Only after there was a loss of revenue due to the strike, senior leader like Sharad Pawar wants to talk to you,” Padalkar said.
Advising Shiv Sena minister Anil Parab to discuss the issue with workers, Padalkar said “why don’t you go to Azad maidan where Marathi workers are protesting and discuss the issue with them? Instead you are finding solutions elsewhere. You should personally assure the workers that their suspension would be withdrawn so that they would agree to talk.”
Reminding that Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray had said earlier that his government would meet protesters and give patient hearing to them, the BJP leader said to keep the word. “At least honour the CM’s promise and take a step forward to speak with the workers. You have to resolve the issue by taking workers in confidence,” Padalkar added.
