Mumbai: Mumbai Police Commissioner Sanjay Pandey stating that he is always available to serve public, has responded to the appeals made by the Mumbaikars. In his letter he has said that after receiving a tremendous response from the Mumbaikars, priority areas to work on will be Traffic, Noise, Illegal Activities, and Suspicious Activity.
In the letter he said, “Its just around two weeks that I took over as your CP. Your response to my open letter to contact me has been tremendous.’
He added, “Suggestions are coming in as requested.” He listed priority areas highlighted by Mumbaikars and what what actions have been taken so far on suggestions in the letter.
1. Traffic
Mumbai Police had started two campaigns, #WrongSideDriving and #RemoveKhatara as daily work. Under these campaigns so far 425 bikers were booked and 856 Khataras were removed.
They met the developers of infrastructure and instructed-no spilling of boulders on the roads. They also instructed them to remove scaffoldings immediately after completion of work.
They had suspended towing till they demarcate parking areas, and appealed people to follow traffic rules.
They have undertaken steps to clear congestion near railway stations, and lining of autos, they will make make it permanent with fixed boulders. They will make sure the entry and exits aren’t blocked.
2. Noise
Mumbai Police have taken campaign of #NoiseUnderControl as a priority. They have met the developers under this campaign and have instructed them to put sound cutters by 31 march, to display timing of construction on a board outside each site, display permissible decibel levels which are 65db on the board outside. They have also directed them not to perform any heavy piling work on Sundays.
3. Illegal activities
Mumbai Police have raided Illegal gambling dens. They have also taken action against online illegal lottery. Dance bars were also reported and action was taken not only against the business but also on erring policemen
4. Suspicious activity
Sanjay Pandey was hugely grateful for incident reported from south Mumbai of a suspicious object and also similar alerts in the city.
He has appealed people to inform police of any such activities in future as well.
