New Delhi: BCCI President and former India captain Sourav Ganguly, on Wednesday in a tweet hinted at joining politics. He mentioned completing 30 years in cricket. Thanking his supporters he informed about starting something that he feels might help a lot of people terming it as a “New Chapter’ and appealed to continue the support he received over the years.
“2022 marks the 30th year since the start of my journey with cricket in 1992. Since then, cricket has given me a lot. Most importantly, it has given me the support of all of you. I want to thank every single person who has been a part of the journey, supported me, and helped me reach where I am today. Today, I am planning to start something that I feel will probably help a lot of people. I hope you continue your support as I enter this chapter of my life,” he wrote.
Speculations are rife that the former Indian captain might join politics. There were strong rumors of him campaigning in the West-Bengal elections, which took place last year. However, the news turned out to be false.
He had recently met Home Minister Amit Shah at his residence over dinner. Ganguly also shares a good rapport with the West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
