Kolkata: Two Jawans of Border Security Force died after allegedly firing at each other with their service rifle this morning. Around 6:45 am, the incident took place at the Kakmarichar BSF camp of Battalion No 177 along the India-Bangladesh front in the state’s Murshidabad district.
The camp comes under the paramilitary force’s Berhampore sector, which is about 230 km away from the state’s capital Kolkata.
The two Jawans have been identified as Head Constable SS Sekhar and Head Constable Jonson Toppo.
According to the information received by the India Today, the two indulged into an heated argument before they opened fire.
As per the News Agency PTI report, to the troopers, summons was issued by the local police asking them to report at police station today, purportedly led the two getting into a confrontation officials said.
According to India Today reports, BSF DIG SS Guleria said , “An inquiry has been ordered into the matter to ascertain what exactly led to the incident. A police case has also been registered.”
The bodies have been sent for autopsy.
