Aligarh: A case has been registered against a right-wing leader for making provocative remarks about a certain community.
Sadhvi Annapoorna aka Pooja Shakun Pandey, who claims to be the national secretary of the Akhil Bharat Hindi Mahasabha, has been charged with inciting hatred among different groups by the Aligarh Police.
Ms Pandey has been arrested twice by the Aligarh police in the previous two years for controversial conduct and utterances, but both times she had been released on bail.
Superintendent of Aligarh Police, Kalanidhi Naithani, said, “A First Information Report has been registered against Pooja Shakun Pandey in connection with her controversial statement. Case registered against her in police station Gandhi Park under section 153A/153B/295A/298/505 of IPC.”
Last year, the Uttarakhand Police charged Ms Pandey and other Hindu religious leaders with hate speech at the Haridwar “Dharam Sansad” (religious assembly).

Between December 17 and 19, hate speeches, including blatant demands for violence against Muslims, were delivered at two rallies in Delhi (by the Hindu Yuva Vahini) and Haridwar (by Yati Narsinghanand).
Pooja Shakun made headlines in 2019 when she fired shots at a Mahatma Gandhi effigy and shouted praises for Nathuram Godse at a function in Aligarh.
