What is the need for the additional budgetary provision?: Prabhakar Shinde

Mumbai: BJP leader in BMC, Prabhakar Shinde, wrote a letter opposing the additional financial provisions to be made, after the budget, to the civic body Commissioner. On February 3 the budget was presented, for the year 2022-23. But the civic body would be dissolved on March 7 2022, till the next elections and the incharge would be commissioners till then.

In the letter Shinde said, โ€œThe BMC would be dissolved from March 7, 2022 and elections are yet to be declared. Ward delimitation is not finalised yet then what is the need for the additional budgetary provision?โ€

The BJP leader has raised several questions. He is asking which are these urgent works for the additional budgetary provisions and who recommended these works. โ€œIt is very unfair that the funds are being sanctioned without listing the works. It is a wastage of tax payerโ€™s money,โ€ Shinde wrote.

He further alleged that, these types of works are sanctioned to benefit the contractors. โ€œBJP would oppose the additional financial provision for these works. The Commissioner should only sanction the funds when the new body comes to power,โ€ the BJP leader added in the letter.
