“Will They Make Kashmir Files-2?”: Sanjay Raut Takes Dig At Centre

Mumbai: In a sharp attack on the Centre, Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut on Sunday wondered whether a film would be made on the current exodus of Kashmiri Pandits amid targeted killings in the Valley.

Raut was referring to “The Kashmir Files” which was released earlier this year. Directed by Vivek Agnihotri, the film was about the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits from Jammu and Kashmir in the early 1990s.

The film was made tax-free in several BJP-ruled states and was endorsed with glowing reviews by several top ministers and saffron party leaders. It went on to become a major box-office success.

Now, in light of the alarming increase in targeted terror violence in the Valley, Raut questioned whether the central government would go to town promoting a movie based on the current happenings.

“#KashmiriPandits are killed & forced to leave the valley. Those who promoted #KashmirFiles are mum! Will they now make Kashmir Files-2 on the present situation? Will the PM promote this sequeal as well?

If History shouldn’t be hidden, then shouldn’t the Present also be accepted,”he added.

The Sena MP’s  statement came a day after the Jammu and Kashmir administration ordered the transfer of 177 Kashmiri Pandit teachers posted in Srinagar to safer locations, after terrorists killed and injured multiple civilians in recent weeks.

On Friday, Maharashtra Chief Minister  Uddhav Thackeray attacked the Centre over the targeted killings in the Valley, saying, “They [Kashmiri Pandits] were shown dreams of homecoming but they are being killed now.”

“We won’t abandon them. Maharashtra will back the Kashmiri Pandits. We will provide all possible help,” Thackeray announced.

Since May 1, at least eight civilians have been killed in targeted attacks by terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir.
