Nagaland Police lodged FIR against 21 Para Special Forces in the Nagaland Op Death

Kohima : The Nagaland police have taken on its own motion and lodged a FIR against 21 Para special forces of Indian Army in connection with a counter-insurgency operation that led to the deaths of 14 innocent villagers.

The 21 Para Special forces of Army “blankly opened fire” resulting in the killing many Oting villagers in Nagaland. In the FIR the state police alleged that the “intention” of the security forces was to “murder and injure civilians.”

The police had said that the special Army unit didn’t inform police nor did they take any police guide for the counter-insurgency operation in Mon district that borders Myanmar.

Thirteen villagers and a soldier were killed at an Indo-Myanmar border district in Nagaland on Sunday as a counter-insurgency operation went horribly off script. One more villager died in the clashes that followed.

Violent clashes broke out between security forces and locals in Nagaland’s Mon district on Sunday. According to the report, 6 youths were killed in the firing by the security forces. It is being told that this firing was done in the apprehension of youths being associated with the militant organization NSCN.

The truck had eight people on board — six of them were killed on the spot; two others died on the way to the hospital. It is believed that all those on the truck were local coal miners.

Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio has condemned the incident. He tweeted that the incident of killing of civilians in Mon’s Oting is highly condemnable. Its high-level SIT investigation will be done. Justice will be done according to the law. I appeal to everyone to maintain peace.

After the killings of the civilians, Union Home Minister Amit Shah tweeted, “Saddened by the unfortunate incident at Oating in Nagaland. I express my deepest condolences to the families of those who have lost their lives. The state government will conduct a high-level SIT investigation so that the bereaved families can get justice.
