BREAKING: Big Relief For Save Aarey Protestors

Last Sunday, Despite detentions, alleged lathi charges, and FIRs, Save Aarey protestors have not stopped the environmentalist from coming on the ground in large numbers. Aarey, Birsa Munda Chowk saw the highest number of┬а Aarey activists against the metro car shed since the movement resumed in 2022 around 5 weeks ago.

The Supreme Court on Friday said, “No further trees to be cut, in any manner whatsoever, till next date of hearing.”The case is being heard by Justice UU Lalit, who is going to be the new CJI after NV Ramana the current CJI retires.

The next hearing in the case is scheduled to be on August 10.

One of the SC petitioners in the case, Amrita Bhattacharya speaking to HW news said that “The judge has said, there are a lot of SLP (special leave petitions), which need to be heard in detail.”

Bhattacharya further said, “The judge has said there will not be any further tree cutting now, and all the petitions need to be combined and listed on the coming Wednesday, the court has also asked to submit the important documents in front of the court,” she said.

“The hearing was heard for around 10 minutes”, the petitioner said.

NCP leader Supriya Sule had also raised the issue in Lok Sabha, earlier in the week.
