New Delhi: India today logged 10,488 new Covid cases, which is 186 more than yesterday’s number (10,302). The country also reported 313 Covid deaths, which is slightly higher than yesterday’s 276 deaths. Meanwhile, 12,329 people have recovered from the virus in last 24 hours.
The active caseload stands at 1,22,714, lowest in 532 days. Active cases account for less than 1 per cent of total cases, currently at 0.36 per cent, lowest since March 2020.
116.50 crore vaccine doses have been administered so far under the nationwide vaccination drive.
With the addition of new infections and casualties, the total caseload has risen to 3,45,10,413 while the death toll now stands at 4,65,662.
The Health Ministry also confirmed that 12,329 patients recovered from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, taking the cumulative tally to 3,39,22,037.
Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 98.30 per cent, the highest since March 2020.

With the administration of 67,25,970 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s Covid inoculation coverage has reached 116.50 crore as of Sunday morning.

While debating on booster shots, the central health authorities should consider that early recipientsāsenior citizens, people with comorbidities or health and frontline workersāgot their two shots within a six-week period as against the current ideal period of 84 days, said experts.
