Earlier, Chatterjee, who was relieved of his ministerial duties, claimed he was a โ€œvictim of a conspiracyโ€ and expressed his dismay at Trinamoolโ€™s decision to suspend him. Both Mr. Chatterjee and Ms. Mukherjee claimed that the money recovered was not theirs.

โ€˜Thank PM Modi for providing free foodโ€™: BJP Nishikant Dubey Statement Raged People

nishikanth dubey free fund remark
The BJP MP Nishikant Dubey, who is now being called out on social media for his comments, was speaking on the issue of inflation in India under the Modi government.

Mumbai: The BJP MP Nishikant Dubey of Jharkhand on Monday stirred controversy while addressing the parliament in the monsoon session. The MP made a contentious remark by saying that the nation should thank the PM for providing (free fund ka khana) food free of cost to the poor.

โ€œThe condition of the world after Covid today, even after that the poor and unprivileged are getting a meal for two times, shouldnโ€™t we thank and congratulate the prime ministerโ€, he mentioned.

The discussion on the critical issues like price rise and inflation in the nation under the Modi government was being held in the parliament yesterday when the BJP MP made this remark for which the opposition slammed him and the MP is now being trolled on social media by the netizens.

Trolled on social media:

People are giving sharp reactions to his remark on social media. The opposition leaders also took to twitter and condemned his remark.

Pappu Yadav a social media user wrote, โ€œThe MP who robbed the most of the free fund is now asking the population of 80 crores to become pets from the public for free fund food!โ€

Another user tweeted, โ€œI would like to tell the BJP MP that you must be eating for free, not the public. The public also pays tax for the shroud from the thread tied in the hand with birth till death. People like you get  bungalow, car, electricity, water, air-rail travel for free, but not the public.โ€

Discussion on price rise:

The House detailed discussion of the Rule 193 rate hike, which has been the bone of contention between the Treasury and opposition banks since the start of the July 18 session, so far resulting in a near  washout of the debates.

Discussions of the Wildlife Amendment (Protection) Act 2021 and the Central Universities Amendment Act (2022) have also been included.Though the Centre had listed 32 Bills for passing in Parliament, it seems unlikely against the backdrop of a showdown with the opposition on the issue of rising GST rates and inflation.
