Delhi: Over 200 Flights Delayed, Temperature To Dip More

Delhi and its neighboring areas are engulfed with a thick layer of fog as North India continues to reel under a cold wave. The reduced visibility has affected airports across the region and disrupted flight services.

At New Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI), over 200 flights have been delayed, and four services have been canceled. The airport authorities stated that while landings and takeoffs are ongoing, flights not equipped for low-visibility landings may face disruptions due to the prevailing weather conditions.

The weather department’s 7-day forecast indicates that from Wednesday, the minimum temperature will begin to dip, potentially dropping to 5 degrees Celsius by Friday.

On Wednesday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an orange warning for Delhi, followed by a yellow alert for Thursday and Friday.

On Tuesday, over 300 flights were delayed, and around 25 train services were disrupted due to the dense fog. States like Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Rajasthan, among others in the North Indian region, remain gripped by an extreme cold wave.
