The letter highlighted the police’s responsibility for maintaining safety and law and order, yet no one represents their interests or raises concerns. Hence, with the 2024 Lok Sabha elections approaching, the association proposed Sanjay Pandey as their representative, and he accepted the offer.
The letter also mentioned that Mr Pandey served in the South Mumbai constituency and was highly regarded by the local populace during his tenure. Therefore, the association believes his nomination would benefit the party due to his popularity.
The association’s president assured the UBT leader that if Sanjay Pandey’s candidacy is confirmed, thousands of retired police personnel would support his campaign by setting up stands in the South Central Mumbai constituency. The letter concluded with an earnest request to Uddhav Thackeray to consider Pandey’s nomination.
