Germany Fears Russia May Trigger World War 3

Germany is reportedly bracing for a potential armed conflict with Russia, as indicated by leaked classified documents accessed by Bild newspaper from the German defence ministry. The information suggests concerns that Russia might extend the ongoing war in Ukraine to target NATO ally countries in the coming year, potentially triggering World War 3. While the Russian officials have declined to comment on the Bild report, dismissing it as โ€œfake,โ€ the documents also allege that European armed forces are preparing for a possible Russian attack on NATOโ€™s eastern flank, including a potential cyber offensive.

The reported scenario, โ€œAlliance Defence 2024,โ€ envisions the escalation starting in a few weeks, with tens of thousands of German soldiers deployed to the conflict. The report attributes information to defence minister sources and suggests that due to diminishing funding from the West, Russian forces might initiate a โ€œspring offensiveโ€ against Ukrainian troops.

The leaked documents outline a step-by-step plan, month by month, detailing how Russian forces might proceed and how NATO would defend its allies. The clashes will intensify in September, prompting Russian President Vladimir Putin to conduct a large-scale military exercise involving around 50,000 troops in Western Russia and Belarus.

As per the leaked information, Russia could then mobilize troops and mid-range missiles to Kaliningrad, a Russian territory situated between NATO countries Poland and Lithuania. The documents also speculate that by December, Russia might exploit the US presidential election to spread propaganda and incite more violence.

According to the leaked documents, NATO plans to take โ€œmeasures for credible deterrenceโ€ by May 2025 in response to the Russian troop buildup, aiming to prevent direct combat between Russian and Western forces. However, Russian foreign ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova dismissed the report as โ€œlast yearโ€™s horoscope,โ€ Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov chose not to comment, accusing the newspaper of regularly publishing โ€œvarious fake news items and canards.โ€
